Description

Dense Teide refractory bricks left out of the first-grade selection because of small variations in colour or geometry. They have never been used: they are factory surplus stored under cover at the Calanda plant.

Using them gives an outlet to the material and labour already invested in making them. Their variations in tone and texture add character to a ceramic still waiting for its first life on site.

Possible uses

Hearths, fireplaces, stoves and ovens. Also exposed interior walls with thermal mass, as an inner leaf or storage partition receiving solar gains or heat from a stove. They can help smooth out temperature swings, depending on the building’s design and operation.

Their finish allows solutions without extra cladding. The 60 mm pieces can be considered for interior flooring, after checking the slip resistance and wear resistance required for the use.
